Blue Emperor to Yellowtail Fusilier

Blue Emperor

Emperor(blue)B.F.3kg
This fish is not shot a lot in natal as they are generally not very big. In mozambique you find some large fish and they make good eating. Deep scottburgh is a good place for this fish. They patrol the reef aggressively and will swim up to you on the bottom.

Yellowfin Emperor

Emperor(yellowfin)B.F.3kg
The yellow fins help to identify this fish. They are not shot much in natal as you do not often come across decent size fish.

Englishman

Englishman
Englishman B.F.4kg
They prefer flat reef and are normally away from the hot spot. Lying motionless on the bottom will bring any nearby fish in to have a look. The seapark area has a lot of these fish. When drifting over flat uninteresting reef, it is worthwhile doing the odd dive to lie on the bottom in case these fish are about.

False Englishman

False Englishman B.F.2kg
This fish has a protruding bony area between the eyes which differentiates it from the englishman. They are not common and l have never shot one.

Natal Fingerfin

Banksteenbras
The natal fingerfin is easily confused with the bank steenbras which is found in cape waters. The fingerfin is a light red in colour and has a dark patch at the base of the pectoral fin. They are fairly easy to approach and are found on rocky ledges. The anerly stretch is a good spot for this fish.

Yellowtail Fusilier

Fusilier
Big shoals of these fish are found at ninemile north of sodwana. They are not speared by divers.
